About
Pharmaceutical Scientist. Radiopharmaceutical Specialist.
Background
I'm Alex Stoicu, a pharmaceutical scientist in Research Triangle Park, North Carolina, with more than a decade of experience working across the pharmaceutical development pipeline:
- Early-stage drug discovery and computational chemistry at an RNA-targeted biotech
- Vaccine formulation at a major influenza vaccine manufacturer
- Extractables and leachables chemistry at a global CRO
- Radiochemistry lab management and subject matter expertise at a pharmaceutical analytical services company
Radiopharmaceuticals
Radiopharmaceuticals are my specialty. Very few independent consultants have hands-on GxP radiochemistry drug product testing and lab management experience. I run the lab, and it is my domain: I develop and write the methods, and I train the people who work with them in a highly specialized, radiation-controlled environment.
Analytical toolkit
- HPLC-RAD
- Radio-TLC
- GC-FID
- Headspace GC-FID
- Wet chemistry
- Raw material testing
- API testing
Where it started
My research career began with five years as an R&D associate at the National Institute for Lasers, Plasma and Radiation Physics (NILPRP) in Romania, including a European Space Agency Spin Your Thesis 2015 project on pharmaceutical research under hyper-gravity conditions.
I am also a published scientist, with several articles in peer-reviewed scientific journals.
Since then, I have honed my industry skills in the pharmaceutical labs of North Carolina's Research Triangle Park, from early discovery through GxP quality control.
Why Stoic Science
Stoic Science holds that discipline, compliance and precision are not bureaucratic burdens. They are the foundation of good, trustworthy science.
